It's raining. It's pouring.
And Publix had a BOGO sale on Quaker products and a $3 off fruit with purchase of two oatmeals... um, no brainer. I purchased 2 boxes of instant oatmeal for $3 total and received $3 in fruit for free. Price without discounts was $9, so I saved $6 or 67%. I also bought a $5 box of cereal for $2.45 less $.55 = $1.90 or 62% savings. The best part? It's all good food that's good for me. PS- fruit is wicked expensive. What's the cutest thing with four fury paws living in my house? Layla. She loves her some burrow-bed, and I was feeling crafty... enter more fun in the rain. P'jones and I took a field trip to JoAnne's last weekend with my 50% off coupons and came out with $50 worth of fabric for $25. Still ouch, but hey, it makes Layla happy. Yes, I made that executive decision that she loves when I make her things. Look at how happy she looks in the top left picture. To be a fabric wannabe nerd, we got some fleece, some tshirt material (green) and some fury fabric (brown) that when trimmed makes it look like a wookie is shedding in the house. That would be the picture on the bottom left. Two-ish hours of ingesting flying brown fuzz, and, presto, Layla has her newest favorite bed. Added bonus, it's reversible.
In other news, Layla supports her Auntie Mom-mom and the Georgia's Lion Lighthouse Foundation's Night of Spectacles. After resting in her new bed, she sported Daddy's glasses, Mommy's glasses and her sunglasses in support of the Lighthouse. For the record, she does not like wearing glasses nor does she need them.
It was Great Day of Service at McKendree UMC on Saturday. P'Jones and I signed up to help at the Lawrenceville Co-op and God had another plan. We were to help with one of our members' housework. And it was raining. And we were feeling old. And we did't make breakfast. And... we got served a HUGE slice of humble pie. I think sometimes as humans we all forget how incredibly fortunate we are to have what we have. Including our health, loved ones, and ability to take care of ourselves. We hugged each other alotta bit tighter after our three hours of service.
Last bit of excitement for the weekend, I broke the toilet. After convincing P'Jones to take a nap (he thought fixing the toilet was mans work?!), I put a plastic bag over my hand and into the nasty bowl it went. Nice and green, ain't it. The green stopper reduces the flow of water too, which is green on another level. I made myself laugh. PS- there was a hole in the bag and that was nasty.
